Last night I went to see the movie, UNCONDITIONAL, with my friend Marj.  This project is the creative brain child of and produced by, Jason Atkins.  It was filmed on location in Nashville, TN and on Jason's property. (I loved the barn)  For only the second time in all my movie going history the audience actually applauded at the end of the film.  With not a dry eye in the house, including my own.  I needed a tissue.

Many small budget, independent films (This budget was 2,000,000 according to The Numbers website) are poorly produced and some aspect often leaves me feeling distracted.  This film was the whole package.  I was very much with the characters and following the plot as the story unfolded.  UNCONDITIONAL is a bright spot for independent writers and producers who are breaking new ground as the many aspects of film as a commercial product becomes not only more accessible, but also affordable.  With that in mind, remember that my friend Brian Churchill, Churchill Studios, has a fully equipped Post-Studio.

This was a crossover Christian film.  My only wish was that the name of Christ would have been spoken by at least one character.  The appropriate place for this would have been as the main character, powerfully played by actor, Michael Ealy, finds himself in solitary confinement and turns to Jesus Christ, for his salvation.  Still it is clear that this is a Christian film, with Christian values and the divine hand of a sovereign God guiding the lives of people that need Him.

By all means, go and see this film.  Right now it is showing in all but one state; in over 300 theaters.  My hope is that the film will see an international run as well.  Typical of a secular industry you may notice it doesn't get the billing or the attention that industry films receive.  If you don't find it at your local theater ask for it to be shown and call the religious editor at your local paper to write a review.  Or better yet, you write a review.  This film would be a great outing for church senior and youth groups, Sunday school classes, and book clubs.  The themes and content would provide rich and stimulating conversation afterwards so... after you discard your soggy tissue and collect your emotions head out for dinner or coffee to discuss.  And... we need to support Chrisian film.  Spread the word.

Many blessings to all of you.  Maranatha!
